About the Drink
MUG Root Beer was launched in the 1950s in San Francisco by the Belfast Beverage Company. In the 60s they introduced a sugar free version. In 1986, recognising the excellence of the drink, PepsiCo bought them out, giving them a leading position in the root beer market.
MUG has been described as not as sweet as A&W Root Beer and not as tangy as IBC Root Beer but having a better aftertaste than both. One thing is for sure, it is definitely the best branded root beer we can find.

Typical boring mass produced over carbonated, over sweetened root beer in a can found at any grocery store. ZZZZZZZZ boring.
Love the taste, but the cap has to go, the ridges cut into my hand when I try to open it, never used to be like that, why change a good thing/
I love Mug Root Beer, however, when I bought my last 12 pack yesterday it cost me what I consider to be way to much. It was $4.38 at a Walmart in Woodville, Texas. I do not like A& W, it is cheaper. I do like IBC, however, it is also expensive.
